Connect AI Assistants to HDA

Use the HDA MCP connector to let AI Assistants like Claude access your health documents, medications, and wearable data directly.

What is the Health Data Avatar MCP Server?

The Health Data Avatar MCP server lets AI Assistants (e.g. Claude) access your health record in HDA directly. You can ask Claude questions about your medical records, lab results, medications, and wearable data without copy-pasting or uploading anything into the conversation.

What can connected AI Assistants access?

Assistants reach your data through a fixed set of tools. Each one is listed below with the name the Assistant sees, so you can recognise what it is doing when it tells you which tool it used.

Your documents

  • File manifest (get_files_manifest): a list of your documents in HDA, including uploaded files and journals. Each entry carries the title, date, and tags.
  • File transcript (get_file_transcript): the extracted plain-text content of a single file, preceded by any notes you have added to that file in the app.

Your medications

  • Medications (get_medications): every medication in your HDA record, ordered by name, with dosage, start and end dates where known, and a reference to the document each one came from.

Your wearable data

These tools cover trackers you have connected to HDA, such as Oura and Whoop, or synced through Apple Health.

  • Describe wearable data (describe_wearable_data) — which wearable sources and fields your account holds, with how many observations there are and the period they cover.
  • Query wearable data (query_wearable_data) — statistics for chosen fields over a date range: count, minimum, maximum, average, total and latest value, either across the whole period or day by day.
  • Wearable records (get_wearable_records) — individual events such as sleeps, workouts and daily summaries.

Your questionnaires

  • List your completed questionnaires (get_questionnaires) — which questionnaires you have filled in, showing the first and last entry dates
  • Show the answers from your questionnaires (get_questionnaire_responses) — the responses submitted for a given questionnaire, optionally filtered by the date

Help and feedback

  • Search HDA help (search_faq) — searches Health Data Avatar's own help content so the assistant can answer questions about using HDA itself.
  • Send feedback (submit_hda_feedback) — sends anonymous product feedback to our team, and only after you have explicitly agreed to it. Submissions are not linked to your account, so we cannot reply to them; for anything account-related, submit a support ticket instead.

Writing journal entries

  • Add a journal entry (add_journal_entry) — saves a journal entry in your own words, dated to when it happened, alongside the entries you write through WhatsApp, Telegram or the app.

Writing notes

  • Add a note (add_note) — saves a markdown document into your HDA record as a new document. The origin of the document is preserved, noting which connection it came through.

How to connect using Claude

Visit the HDA connector page and click Connect.

You can choose whether to grant Claude permission to create documents, or limit it to only reading them.

Do I need an account?

No HDA account is required to start the process. Clicking "Connect" will guide you through the process even if you don't have an account with us yet.

Revoking access

You can revoke an AI Assistant's access at any time from the Integrations page in your Health Data Avatar account.

To change the permissions you have already granted to an AI Assistant, you should disconnect and reconnect your HDA account from within your assistant's interface.

Privacy and security

  • All communication with the MCP server uses HTTPS
  • Authentication uses OAuth 2.1 with PKCE, requiring explicit user consent
  • HDA does not see your conversations with AI Assistants
